October Demos
Roots Music Festival
In October 2025, Dance Continua had three collaborative demonstrations, giving the Boulder community a look into what the we’ve been working on.
B.E.A.T. Meet-up
The Boulder Experiments in Art and Technology (B.E.A.T.) Meet-up Event, held on October, 8th 2025, was a collaborative gathering of artists and technologists at Junkyard Social Club. The dancers offered a show-and-tell of works-in-progress demonstrating how motion sensor technology was used to converse with movement in real time, as well as offering attendees a chance to try on the sensors and create their own dialogue with the music. This was a first glimpse of The Heartbeat Sketch, which premiered later that month in Boulder Ballet’s Dancers’ Choice Program.
Roots Music Project put on the biggest music festival Boulder has ever seen: Roots Music Festival! In its inaugural year, Dance Continua was invited to perform at one of their featured stages on Pearl Street. With the help of composer & engineer, Michael Schulze (Enemy Sender), the dancers wore motion sensors to present an interactive performance creating music in real time. In addition to getting a second look into The Heartbeat Sketch, audience members were invited to try the motion sensors on for themselves, encouraging collaboration between people of all ages and abilities.

This Arts and Tech Activation brought creators together to discuss and explore the intersection of arts and technology, and what the future of AI can look like for creatives. Not only did conversations flow between artists and technologists from all backgrounds, but attendees got to experience a Dance Continua performance of live movement to music creation through data transmitted from motion sensors the dancers wore.
